Softbank to be official carrier of iPhone in Japan

 

Japan's 3rd largest mobile phone carrier Softbank revealed today that they will be the official carrier for the iPhone in Japan. With a launch price of 23,040 yen ($214.60) for the 8gb unit and 34,560 yen ($319.91) for the 16gb counterpart. Softbank plans to take part in the world wide launch which takes place on July 11th. Data plans for the iPhone will begin at 7,280 yen ($67.41) which will feature unlimited data as well as free talk between Softbank subscribers. Softbank hopes to gain a larger market-share and judging by the success of the first iPhone, they just might.
