FAREWELL SUPERMAN

DAYTRIPPER 2011-06-05 00:57:19

He went by many names and was many things to many people. The man that gave 19 years to the NBA retired this week. I’m talking about the one and only Shaquille O’Neal.

We all knew this day was going to come but like Shaq said father time has caught up with him.
He was serious went he needed to be but never loss his sense of humor. He was literally larger than life.

He never shunned the spotlight but at the same time he gave you the feeling he never craved it.
We accepted him as he was and we never wanted him to be anything different.

Some people feel he would have been a better player if he would have given basketball 100% the way other players have done but that’s just not Shaq. His goal in life was never to be the #1 scorer, the #1 rebounder, etc. When I listened to his retirement speech I knew he was satisfied and content with his place in basketball history.

Regardless of what people may say about his work ethic he’s considered as being one of the best basketball players that has ever played the game. The Lakers have already said this week they are going to retire his jersey. After all he did help them win 3 championships.

I’m gonna miss Shaq and what he brought to the game but guys like him never really leave. I have a feeling the 2nd half of his life is going to be just as fun as the first.

Good luck and best wishes “SUPERMAN” !

Lisa
