When an artist creates a piece of art, the purpose is to create a feeling or evoke some kind of emotion that the artist feels and hopefully the viewer will feel too. It explains the differences in impressions we receive from artworks of different artists. In history the early Egyptians created the Sphinx , it also has been said that when Rembrandt drew, it was his inner spirit that pushed the pencil around. One thing that we can say beyond doubt is that surroundings are of constant impact on artist works and often impart to us their own reactions to such things, although not always. In this, all art is connected as a global village to positively encourage viewers to create their own associations with the artwork.

Gothic
The Gothic style originated in Italy in the twelve century and remained dominant for almost 200 years. During that time, writers criticized it as vulgar and hence named it Gothic art after the Gothic tribes destroyed the Roman Empire. Its was dominated by dark oil paintings that represented a shift from the Dark ages into a more prosperous society. The movement was typified by its increased naturalism. At the same time, Christianity was entering a new predominant phase, which encouraged Gothic artists and architects to apply the style to large cathedrals and churches. Gothic art and architecture consisted primarily of religious works and was characterized by arches, stained glass, and illuminated manuscripts. In the late 14Th century, Gothic art began reflecting Renaissance ideas and became known as the International Gothic style. Nowadays, Neo-Gothic Art is an Art movement that started in the early 1980s ,associated with Fantasy Art.During the late 1990s it became recognized as a new style, emphasizing the mysterious, bizarre, and themes mythology .

Art Deco
The name Art Deco comes from an abbreviation of the title "Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes."This exhibition, held in Paris in 1925, attracted16 million visitors and proved to be a design turning point throughout the Western world. Sumptuous yet streamlined, Art Deco had an enormous impact on fine art, sculpture, architecture, photography, industrial and product design, clothing, jewelry, and furniture. Popularized by Hollywood movies, the Art Deco look is glamorous and luxurious, dramatic and optimistic. Its clean, flowing lines were inspired by the emerging science of aerodynamics, the streamlined designs seen on skyscrapers and industrial machinery.Art Deco employs an eclectic mixture of classical and contemporary elements, blending exotic materials and forms from Egypt, the Mayan and Aztec cultures, the Far East and Africa. What unifies the style is its use of simple, geometric and abstract forms, combined with contrasting colors to create a look that is simple, stylized, and very sleek. Well-known artists within the Art Deco movement included fashion illustrator Erte and glass artist Rene Lalique.

Surrealism is a style in which fantastical visual imagery from the subconscious mind is used with no intention of making the work logically comprehensible. It was similar in some elements to the mystical 19Th-century Symbolist movement, but was deeply influenced by the psychoanalytic work of Freud. Salvador Dali is probably the best-known Surreal artist using bizarre dream imagery to create unforgettable landscapes of his inner world. His most famous work is The Persistence Of Memory. A flamboyant painter, writer, sculptor and experimental film-maker, whose painterly skills are often attributed to the influence of the Renaissance masters. Dalí employed extensive symbolism in his work. For instance, the hallmark soft watches that first appear in The Persistence of Memory suggest Einstein's theory that time is relative and not fixed. The idea for clocks functioning symbolically in this way came to Dalí when he was staring at a runny piece of Camembert cheese during a hot day in August.Various animals appear throughout his work as well, ants point to death, and sexual desire; the snail is connected to the human head (he saw a snail on a bicycle outside Freud's house when he first met Sigmund Freud) locusts are a symbol of waste and fear. The egg is another common Dalíesque image. He connects the egg to the prenatal and intrauterine, thus using it to symbolize hope and love.

Pop Art was one of the biggest art movements of the twentieth century characterized by themes and techniques drawn from popular culture, such as TV, movies, advertising and comic books. Pop Art aimed to employ images of popular culture as opposed to elitist culture in art, accessible , unconventional and easy to interpret.Pop Art was marked by clear lines, sharp paintwork and clear representations of symbols, objects and people. The movement coincided with the youth pop music phenomenon of the 1950s and 1960s, frequently appearing in advertisements for musical bands and on record covers, becoming very fashionable in a number of waves, for sharing same interest in the urban, modern experience. The most famous American Pop artist, Andy Warhol had a lifelong interest in movie stars which first surfaced in his art when he begun working on the portraits of Marilyn Monroe. Warhole attempted to keep his personal fascination with fame from showing through too clearly in his works, preferring to leave their meaning open to the interpretation of viewers. The Pop and media role was summarized with Warhol's famous quotation:" In the future everybody will be world famous for fifteen minutes".A more recent adaptation of Warhol's witty observation, prompted by online social networking, blogging , and similar phenomena, is the claim that "In the future, everyone will be famous to fifteen people"or, in some interpretation, "On the Web, everyone will be famous to fifteen people".As things have turned out the rise of celebrity culture, cyberspace and reality shows since then has shown Warhol to be quite prophetic.

Minimalism
Minimalism emerged in the 6O's and is a form of art in which objects are stripped down to their elemental, geometric form, characterized by simplicity in both form and content. It is often called ABC art, stressing the idea of reducing artwork to a minimum number of colors, values, shapes, lines and texture. The intention of minimalist artists is to allow the audience to view a composition more intensely because the distractions of themes have been removed.Painting and sculpture are reduced to essential forms without embellishment or complication. Some of the most famous minimalist artists include Dan Flavin, Carl Andre, Donald Judd, and Ellsworth.

Electronic Art The new technologies are creating entirely new opportunities for artists . Virtual reality and animation permit the viewer the illusion of moving through the visual space where photography, poetry ,music ,art and design come all together. Digital art is the integration of artistic talent and computer technology.Computing is one of the most common tools in our society, from design processes and mapping of ideas, to industrial applications and scientific visualizations. Electronic Art empowers artists to innovate and explore different means of expression that are relevant to their work and take the relation between art and technology to its fullest potential.
