Pasadena- It was the perfect Southern California afternoon for college football fans as drunken revelry reigned supreme, even if good football didn't. Today, cross town rivals UCLA and USC made their annual pilgramage to the Rose Bowl to battle it out on the grid iron.
This year's game however, was slightly different because for the first time since the 1980's both teams wore their home jerseys. The idea was USC coach Pete Carroll's and agreed to by UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel. The move cost USC a time out which UCLA immediately forfeited as well in a show of sportsmanship.
UCLA, who went into the game 33 point underdogs, made their one and only successful drive early in the game, scoring with a razzle-dazzle play after a turn-over early in the first quarter. The Bruin's elation was short lived, however as the Trojans dominated the remainder of the game barely giving the Bruin defense time to breathe, winning 28-7.
(36) Kahlil Bell for UCLA and (6) Mark Sanchez for USC were named the players of the game.
Todays win secures USC's 4th straight Rose Bowl appearance and their 7th straight cross town rivalry win, long time bragging rights both.
