First gay couple in boyband video

Boyzone have become the first boyband to feature a gay couple in their music video for new single Better.

Four of the band have been paired with girls, but Stephen Gately, who is in a civil partnership, wanted to be honest.

'I think it's important for me to be true to myself,' he explained.

'The lads were saying, 'You've got to do this'. They were pushing saying, 'This would be fantastic'. It's the first of its kind. That's why I went for it.'

The partners of all of Boyzone's members were originally offered to star in the video but declined to take part.
