Saltimbanco - August 23, 2008

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending Cirque du Soleil's "Saltimbanco". The show was comprised of a series of acts, each one leaving the audience in a state of awe. Sections that stand out in my mind are the pole acrobats that performed near the beginning of the show, the twin trapeze artists, the dancers with the boleadoras, and the two incredibly strong guys that balanced off of eachother. Also, there was the bungee cord act, the Russian swing act, and the crazy bicycle rider. And how could I forget the juggler, and the group of 3 acrobats that opened the show.
There were also less intense moments, such as the mime who came out a couple of times throughout the show, or the two clowns that did their own version of the 2-man balancing act.
The music was just okay; many of the songs sounded 80's -ish, which I don't usually mind (except when the featured instrument is a saxophone, which unfortunately was the case).
I believe the show has moved on by now, but if any of you get a chance to see them, I highly recommend it!
