Google's Latest Rival Buried

Three months ago a new search engine called Cuil was launched with the hope of rivalling Google. Now 120 days after its launch the future of the search engine looks bleak; it's co-founder has resigned and the search engine is garnering a mere 0.005% of internet traffic. In contrast Google (now in its 11th year) is used by half the populace.
Google itself has become synonymous with internet use. The majority of public access computers web browsers often have Google as the default page. The phrase 'Google it' has crept into the language. No other search engine can even touch them; how many people would recognise such search engine names as 'dogpile' or Alta Vista? Not even Microsoft with it's massive revenue has been able to take on Google. Cuil like a lot of rivals has simply failed to catch on. It is unlikely that “Cuil it” will ever become a recognisable phrase.
