Easy Virtue

'Easy Virtue' is rather an interesting film. Based on the play by Noel Coward, it tells the story of a young British cad who falls in love with a beautiful American woman, played by Jessica Biel. When the proud young husband brings his racing car driver wife home to his family's estate, the 'floosy' has a vicious reception. 'Mother' (Krisitn Scott-Thomas) and her daughters are cruel and riddled with that same stereotypical snobbery which Coward was so repulsed by in the British upper class. Yet our heroine is not so easily trampled and it is her glamorous daring and boldness that are championed when compared to her husband's stuffy, old fashioned and most of all unhappy family. As a whole the actors are pretty good but Coward's wit seems to only be captured by the marvelously wry and dry Colin Firth. It's a good and most of all unpredictable film with some very funny moments.
