STOP! and Smell the Roses

MsCarmen 2009-11-18 15:36:14

I’ve realized a very special rule. You’ve heard the cliché stop and smell the roses? My response would be I’m too busy. I recently lost my job and man oh man has my perspective on life have changed. I’m so used to the rat race chasing the money train that seems like it gets farther and farther away when I get closer to it. I use to work 10 to 12 hours a day 6 days a week sometimes traveling out of town to make sure my daughter did not want for anything at least that’s what I thought. Being out of work, my beautiful daughter doesn’t ask for really anything anymore and she said something to me that has changed my life forever, she simply said, “I am so glad you lost your job now you have more time with me”. The moral of the story is, you can buy your children or your spouse anything their hearts desire but in the end, those gifts don’t replace you. So today, even if it’s only for a few minutes, get out of the rat race and spend time smelling the flowers with those who love you.

Thought of the Day:

Remember that very little is needed to make a happy life.

-Marcus Aurelius
