Finding A Job Is Like Dating

MsCarmen 2008-08-20 21:29:04

Have you ever given someone your number and you just knew they were going to call you? Several days had past still no call. You start checking your phone to make sure it works, and then you have your friend to call you just to see if your ringer is working. Then out the blue your phone rings you get all excited just to find out….it’s a wrong number!

Well, that’s me in the job searching world right now. Boy oh boy does it suck! I am trying to figure out is the economy that’s bad or is it my resume? I send resume after resume to company after company. I find myself checking my cell phone to make sure its working…….and it is. Then I call my friend to call me back to make sure my ringer is working…..and it is.

Finally a breakthrough, my cell rings I jump to answer not even looking at the call i.d. just to find out its my mom, I love her and all, but I am not in the mood right now to talk about what she is cooking for lunch. I NEED A JOB! After talking to my mom about food for 30 minutes I’m hungry. I’m about to order my favorite, the dollar deal burger special thingy. Then it happens, my phone rings, this time I checked the caller i.d, it’s an unfamiliar number. Just my luck I can’t answer, because I’m next in line for the drive thru.

Hmmm that’s funny no voicemail. Could it be a job or a bill collector? Well, I took my chances and called the number with my professional speaking voice… I say, did anyone call Carmen? Just to find out…. it’s a wrong number! Man oh man, and I thought dating was hard.

Thought of the day:

"I claim not to have controlled events, but confess plainly that events
have controlled me."
