SANTA AND THE RECESSION

DAYTRIPPER 2010-12-26 00:30:37

Tis the season for holiday cheer but lots of parents are feeling the pinch this year. Some are still unemployed so for them today was somewhat uneventful.

They don’t know when they’ll find another job so the thought of spending hundreds of dollars on the latest gadgets will have to be left at just that, a thought.

Some may have used their credit cards to buy a few gifts for their children and they’ll brace themselves for the credit card statement next month.

Then there are the lucky few, the ones that have just landed a new job but they have to use their paychecks to play catch up on their over due bills.

They may not have a lot of gifts under the tree but they do have the comfort of knowing that after Christmas they will have a job to come back to.

Last week it was reported that when parents were taking their children to see Santa they were telling him to please not make any big promises to their children because they were low on funds.

As I write this article the rain is pouring down outside and I’m just thankful I’m safe and warm and I pray for those who are not.

Merry Christmas to everyone and I hope today brought you joy and happiness!
