Mary Bale Has Wheelie Bin Bad

Carbonel 2010-08-27 03:49:19

Crazy cat lady and Catwoman are usually used to describe someone with more than two feline companions or Batman’s nemeses/love interest but for those of us in the UK it has been used in a very different way.

On Tuesday 24th Aug, Mary Bale was caught on camera dumping a beloved pet into a rubbish bin. She claims it was a “split second of misjudgement” that has caused not only global outrage but global support of her actions.

Websites are jumping on the bandwagon (I suppose you could say I am too) deciding whether to acquit or attack Bale. According to various media sources Bale has received death threats, lost her job and had to have police detail posted outside her house 24/7. Well you know how these news channels love to sensationalise things so I am taking a lot of them with a pinch of salt.

I would like to believe that the British Public has better things to do than to camp outside her house and throw eggs and Molotov cocktails at the woman. The debate is now on whether she deserves what has happened in the wake of her actions and I for one don’t agree nor disagree with what has happened. It has happened and we and Bale have to deal with that. There are so many ways she could profit or put a positive spin on this, even with her faux pas of “it’s only a cat”.

- Have a fundraising day for the RSPCA by having members of the public who believe she needs punishing to pay £1 to try to dunk her in a pile of rubbish and goo.

- Write a book about the threats and what transpired. “Mary Bale, A tale of two kitties.”

- Go on various game shows as the ‘evil cat lady’

I’m sure that there are more.

Is the internet today is just a modern day stocks for those we deem have done wrong. Throwing virtual rotten fruit in a pixelated town square. Or is this a lesson in being nice to people and animals because you never know who will see you?

In any case the public called out for action, and they learnt the hard way to be careful what you wish for, 4chan could be watching.
