Britain sells tea to China

lynnconnol 2008-08-22 06:14:06

Yes, it’s true; the British really, really are selling tea to China. Tregothnan Tea are a company who have been making tea near Truro, Cornwall for around nine years. They report that they are exporting much of their harvest of tea leaves to China, India and Japan.

“Because of their love of the British, our tea is being swallowed with great gusto in these countries,” said Benjamin Dyson, tea Sales Manager.

Thank god it’s only tea we’re offering to send them eh? Back to the story!

The company grows its tea on the Tregothnan estate and says it has succeeded in creating ‘the ultimate quality leaf’ which they say is superior even to Darjeeling, the world’s most famous tea.

Head gardener Jonathan Jones said, “We have a special micro-climate here which we have proven really works. Our tea is being taken seriously by tea drinkers all over the world. Earl Grey is especially popular abroad along with our Classic blend.”

He added, “The Japanese are also very keen on the whole English tea tradition - including scones and jam.”

So, what’s next for British export? Sand to Arabia? Beach towels to Germany? Lounge lizard waiters to Spain? The possiblities are endless
