Fair Trade Wine Now Available in Canada

A fair trade product is one that ensures that workers who produce that product are paid fair wages using environmentally sustainable methods. I have most commonly heard this term in reference to coffee (not my cup o' tea), but in Canada, the term fair trade now applies to (some) wine.

Hooray! At last our ethical integrity no longer has to compete with our need to get wasted! Today fair trade wine, tomorrow fair trade vodka! (The day after that, fair trade marijuana).

Not only do the new varieties of fair trade wine have vast social, economical and environmental benefits, but they also come in varieties of red and white including merlot, pinotage, classique blanc, grenache and chenin blanc and are competitively priced.
