Dominant Liverpool Put Pressure On United |

It was a fantastic week for all Liverpool fans as the Reds managed to hit 4 goals past 7 time European Champions Real Madrid and then hit United for 4 at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Having found themselves seven points behind Man United and with Juande Ramos demonstrating against Liverpool’s negative style it seemed as though it was going to be a tough week for the men from Merseyside.
Yet on an electric night at Anfield, Liverpool managed to prove why they are ranked the number 1 side in European football. The five time champions started fast with Torres and Gerrard combining superbly and creating chance after chance. Only the brilliant Iker Casillas was keeping Madrid in the game.
Spain’s No.1 could do nothing to prevent the onslaught and Liverpool brushed aside Real with ease dominating the game from start to finish. A superb result for any Liverpool fan and only a win over United could eclipse this performance.
Going into the game at Old Trafford, Liverpool gaffer Rafa Benitez had a dreadful record against Alex Ferguson’s men and with United going 1-0 up thanks to a penalty from Ronaldo it seemed as though this form was set to continue.
This season though has seen a change in Liverpool, when going behind they have showed a resilience and confidence that has helped them gain critical points from losing positions.
With close to 70,000 die hard United fans packed inside Old Trafford the last thing they expected to see was Liverpool respond with four goals and heap pressure on the current Premiership leaders.
Torres gave Vidic a horrid time and Gerrard again proved why he is one of the best midfielders in the world. Their understanding is critical and their work rate infectious. If the two can stay fit for the rest of the season then perhaps Liverpool have a chance at both the Premiership crown and the Champions League.
All Liverpool fans will be hoping that the win puts doubt in United players minds and that this superb form continues. I for one will be hoping that the run in goes down to the wire and Liverpool will be celebrating a 6th European Cup and a 1st Premiership title.
What do you think, can Liverpool finally get back to their glory days or will United continue their domestic dominance?
