Wellington Gun Run 2008 - The Last Traces of an Amazing Era

Among the incredible events taking place at Wellington College's Speech Day  was the dangerous and exciting gun run.

Eighteen boys work together to heave a Field gun through a course and then fire it to signify their success full completion. The event harkins back to days of old when the Army and Navy would devise such drills for training purposes. Now they serve as reminders of the times gone by and the hardships faced by our past military personel.

Across the country, schools have banned the gun run due to the number of injuries incurred by students. I think Wellington should be congratulated for continuing to hold the event and also doing an excellent job of training and controlling the safety of the students.
