Music Industry Arts

 DIssatisfaction Guaranteed

Having come from the General Arts program at Fanshawe College, I have noticed a huge difference in teacher accessibility. This difference in accessibility is even more disproportionate when tuition fees are taken into account! There are too few teachers in the Music Industry Arts program, and/or our current teachers have too many responsibilities to properly attend to the needs of MIA students. Secondly, the growing number of students has restricted access to the facilities and equipment that is supposedly the cause for our high tuition fees and has made studio time during decent hours hard to come by. I have attended more than one class in which I have had to fight to get to a spot where I could actually see what it was that the teacher was demonstrating and I find it absurd for a student to be expected to perform at his or her best during class when he or she has been in a studio from 5am to 8am on the same day!   Increasing enrollment numbers has an obvious benefit to the college, but this benefit is at the expense of MIA students and only increases Fanshawe College's notoriety for being run by its accountants.
